Loving the least loved

My first car was a 68 four door Impala 307/powerglide and it has stuck like glue in my memory. In 96 I was traveling along a highway in Washington St and saw a 2D HT & I had to turn around and go check it out. Oh yeah, 396/400 combo, can't pass that up right, 17 years and a couple ex wives later I think it is time to get back to "my mistress" as X1 lovingly calls her still.

I am glad the 65-70 models aren't the most popular, but I wish there was parts availability like the Camaro, Nova and Chevelle bastards enjoy too!! Alas, still loving the least loved yet most produced and I wouldn't trade it for any of the others mentioned....unless it was a verified Yenko....to sell, then I could buy it back and do all I have wanted to for the past 17 years.

Looking forward to good times and advice in the future .

Jay

Welcome to the Team Jay!

I would look for the cleanest straightest rust free car you can find in the desert southwest of this country. (they are rust free because the roads are not salted, and it rains for maybe 15 days a year.

The sun is brutal on interior parts such as cloth or plastic. The foam in the seats as well as the vinyl covering on the seats are usually toast as well.

If it's not one thing getting toasted on one area of the country it's something else getting toasted in another part of the country. There must be a happy middle somewhere that has cars just sitting that don't have rusty bodies and torn up interiors somewhere. We just need to find it.

Welcome aboard Jay, I'm new here myself. I have the same affliction to Impalas, it's the 69's. I'm on my 3rd one and if I count my dads brand new one in 69 that is 4. I getcha on the stuck on your mind like glue thing. It's a sickness or that itch you can't scratch.

Have any pics?
