1967 Impala in in the Desert!

Hi guys. I'm new to the site. Plus this is my first Chevy and to top it of I'm undertaking this while living overseas. My name is Jonathon. I'm from Australia and I've always loved classic muscle but was never in a position to start a project. That was until I found this. It's a California car. There is not too much rust on it and currently there's a small-block under the bonnet.

The plan is to strip it and see what lies beneath but I just want a cool cruiser nothing too crazy.

I'm sure I will have many questions, so please be patient with me!! Thanks for this great resource and I hope to meet and share stories with some of you.

Yeah mate. The old girl is in pretty good shape. Only a little rust in one of the rear quarters, but I'll know for sure once she's inside the shop and they have a good look at her. I don't know too much about her as the current owner bought her at auction.

Welcome Jono, looks like you got yourself a fair car there. Hopefully it's dry and clean as a bone underneath.

I'll know more soon when I get her into the shop. I don't know too much about the car otherwise. There's a small block under the hood but I don't know what size or even if it's going to run. Looks like I have quite a bit of research still to do. Should be fun.

You can post the numbers found on the pad (block) sticking out under the front of the passenger side head (assumes left hand drive car). We can decode the last two letters to tell you what size engine it is and what it was put in originally. The other numbers and letters tell you where the engine was made and when.

Thanks Big Dave. I'll get to doing that once they pull it out. The car was bought by a guy here in Abu Dhabi in a blind auction from California after someone didn't pay his bills. That's why I don't know anything about it, but hey... That's part of the fun right?
