1960 Impala lsx swap

I bought a 1960 Impala last summer and I have finally started on it. 5.3 4L60E combo out of a 02 Avalanche.

While it is apart we are adding disc brakes, cpp 500 steering box, vintage air. It is going to be a slow process but I can't wait to get it going.

That is a beautiful car. Be sure to keep the old combo.

I agree, it would be best to save all the original parts really.

The title of this forum is "Restoration Corner Aimed at Originality". Shouldn't this thread be moved to the Performance or Engine forum? The OP is obviously NOT restoring his car.

Just like the Genie in the Progressive insurance commercial it is done. Just be careful how you word your requests when dealing with irritable, old, all powerful beings.

The motor was down a cylinder and I didnt have room to keep it so I gave it away. I still have a good 283 out of our 61.

I gave all of the original power steering stuff to my brother who has another 61 and his leaks a lot worse than this one did. I also gave him the exhaust manifolds. I wont be able to use the original 14" wheels or hubcaps again with the disc brakes.

The brakes on the front of this car were new from the hub to the drum. I still have them.

Got to have something to cover up the ugly intake.

That is the original indicator, I painted it white and placed the decals on there.

You do some nice work. I really like that car. My brother had a friend that had a 60. He added another taillight to each side and it looked pretty cool.

I think you need to scour the net for a store bought transmission shift indicator like this one to fit your car. I have seen them, though not all resellers keep them in stock:

I do plan to change out the back up light so I can have 3 tail lights, I think they look much better that way.

I agree those look better but they are almost $40 with shipping. I don't have anything in mine. I am way over budget, maybe in time I will pick up one of those.

Thanks , you wouldn't believe the time and effort we spent on this car the past few months. I bought this car and the 64 SS together. I bought them from a guy in Kanas City MO last year on the power tour. I really wanted to LS the 64 but it is just too nice of an original car and especially since it is an SS.
