MSD Ignition

Ive got a 70 impala hardtop, 350 with a roller cam. The newer engine and cam required an electric fuel pump and Ive heard that the best way to go is with an MSD ignition. Im not having any problems with my current ignition but dont have a problem upgrading. Ive also heard of people having problems throwing an MSD on a 350. Any advice would be much appreciated.

MSD just gives you fat spark. A good suggestion is to go with a Blaster coil and fat suppressor wires. Only problem I've heard of with MSD is when running platinum plugs.

MSD yields a few other features besides a multi-spark at lower RPM (a single hot spark at high RPM when most stock HEI distributors begin to break up). First thing to mention is a soft rev limiter to keep you from over reving a motor (which can damage it to the point of blowing it up). Some digital ignition boxes (not all models are digital) also include a start retard for easier starting, a secondary rev limiter for doing burn outs and a switch activated by RPM to turn on or off anything you might like to activate or deactivate such as your cell phone so that it only works while you are driving above or below a user selected RPM.
