Question 66 frame stiffening question???

I am currently do a full restoration/build on a 66 2dr Impala. I am going to be dropping in a LQ4 (very similar to a LS2) and a 4l80e transmission. I am hoping to have about 500hp to the wheels. Do you think the frame in a factory state will handle that much power? If not, what do you recommend to stiffen? Thank you!

The original frame was built to handle a 450 horsepower 427 BBC so the smaller 366 cube LQ4 (6 liter) wouldn't tax the original frames strength. However a half century of corrosion could. So it will depend upon your frame's condition.

If you want to stiffen the frame try welding some steel plate to the section between the wheels under the doors. Seems they always rot out there.

Thanks Big Dave and Dadstoy, as soon as the body is off the frame I will double check everything!
