5.3 Install

Hello all, my name is Lois and I am a newbie. I am trying to see if anyone has installed a 5.3l into a 2000 body style Impala. I have installed 3 3800 series II engines, non of which have been successful. I have had shops do this for me as well. They have falsified information and I am tired of dealing with them. I will attempt to do this myself after gathering some information. Thanks in advance!!!

This probably isnt the best site for this question as it is geared to the older cars. Try ls1tech.com thats all they do.

I pretty much agree, but might add that if that 2000 model is still front wheel drive, which I think it is, that if you are set on an upgrade, you might consider the Northstar engine as it's still a potent GM V8, used in many Caddy front wheel drive vehicles of that time.

Either way, you're in for a ton of work.

BA. is right.. but if you have the money its possible surely the northstar trans could be used on a ls based engine, it would be a ton of work. to custom fabricate everything..but. how many different oil pans would you try at $200 bucks a pop. just as an example.every part would be this way .traction would be an issue. i would just figure out how to boost what you have. or buy a project car

GM did it. They put the 5.3 in the Wimpala SS FWD. So, the engineering is done. Check manuals, collect parts, and head over to the W-body board.

We like our V8s pointing to the rear wheels around here

Two doors, four doors, wagons, and ragtops.
