6' Impala Seat Belt?

Does anyone know if seat belts were standard or optional equipment for a 1963 Impala? I thought they were optional thus they are not required by law on a 1963 Impala.

Who knows the truth?

They were optional.

Two doors, four doors, wagons, and ragtops.

So, should you install or not? Are you required by law to install? In Texas we have seat belt laws?

I seem to recall 66 as well. Do you know if the current seal belt laws apply to these older cars? I'm in Texas and seat belt use is mandatory. My guess, the law does not apply to cars that didn't come with factory installed seat belts.

I would install. I have a pair of dealer-add on belts in the front of my 65. However, you are not required to install or use them.

Belts

Should you install seat belts, absolutely, not like we have air bags to protect us or anyone else you have in the car. As far as the law, in NY if the car didn't come with belts legally you don't have install, not sure what each state dictates.
