Trying to figure out where to vinyl/cloth

I have a 69 impala, I'm looking to fab some seat covers for some modern bucket seats that I am putting in. I like the original green interior, and want to make the new seat covers match as close as possible. I realize that I will probably never find the same kind of cloth, or reproduction cloth (at least so far, from all my searches), but I have also been unable to find a vinyl dye that matches, or vinyl interior that matches.

I've googled and googled, and I've had multiple sample swatches sent to my house, but have had no luck finding vinyl or cloth that looks even close to the original green.

this is my last ditch effort, before I consider other options.

Talk to your local upholstery shop. They might be able to help you find something close.

My wife found my solution for me...

instead of looking around to find the fabric or vinyl that is similar, to upholster the new seats that are replacing the bench seats. why not scavenge the old fabric from the bench seats, as they are in such awesome condition.

If it's in good condition, great. Usually that material, even though it looks good, is frail and disintegrating after 40 some years. You might find it ripping as you are trying to stitch up or stretch it over the new seats.

I agree with Eddie. The problem you are having matching the color of the fabric is probably due to the sun bleaching the colors over time combined with oxidation of the fabric and plastic.

Two options:

1. Take off one of the covers you are trying to match, and send it to SMS and see if they can match.
2. Get new material from SMS for the new buckets AND the old seats.

Two doors, four doors, wagons, and ragtops.
