My 63 SS console closes with a loud clank. It appears that there is something missing to cushion the closing. On the inside of the lid, toward the front, there are two tabs facing downward with a hole in them. Looks like something belongs there. I've searched and searched the net for a part or a blowup diagram but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.
Maybe you could go to a hardware/bolt store and find em in the specialty bins. I know I've seen them before but cannot recall where. I think it was Lowe's hardware. We also have a farm supply store over here that does sell different sizes of bumpstops.
I just purchased a '63 Impala SS with the original Powerglide console. The rubber bumpers you are not gonna find at the local hardware store, as they are pretty bizzare-looking. I took some pics for you this morning but can't post them here because it says the file is too large and I don't know how to make them small. Don't know where you can get them. They look like a small square rubber block with a rubber "whisker" coming out the side. The whisker goes through the little hole. If anyone knows how to reduce a .jpeg file to sendable size I would be mighty grateful.
