65 ss?

Hello - just happened to stumble across this forum. Haven't had time to read though everything just yet but plan to get started when I get home tonight. Could someone decode this cowl tag for me? I am hoping to go look at the vehicle tonight on the way home!!

Thanks very much!

Chad

looks like a
1965 Impala SS
Blue exterior with Blue interior
Built 2nd week of July
With tinted windows and a powerglide transmission

Assume it is a V8 car but can not verify without the VIN (drivers door post)

64 Impala SS 327/300 survivor
67 Impala SS 327 triple black hardtop
67 Impala Bench Seat 4 speed

Welcome to the Team Chad!

Your 1965 two door sport coupe (hard top) that was manufactured at the St Louis MO plant in the second week of July in 1965 is mentioned as being a Super Sport model twice. Once when they mentioned it as being a V8 powered SS, instead of the more uncommon six cylinder powered SS, and again when they used 831 to designate the color of blue vinyl used to cover your bucket seats. Regular, which is to say non-Super Sport models used 836 to describe the blue vinyl they used to cover the bench seat. The D-D indicates that the car was painted top and bottom mist blue.

The trim tag options section has E2M which is to say option code E from the first option group which was tinted glass all around (as opposed to only the windshield being tinted), an Option M out of the second of five possible option groups which indicates a PowerGlide transmission was installed.

Warren,
Thoughts on the 13? Job number? Also, was just reading about the holes punched in the bottom left hand side on late 66 cars that advised of the shoulder harness holes and brackets, have you seen these on full size also?

I believe the 13 is the inspectors number. The lower digits were used by inspectors who did the 2 doors, high 20's were convertibles and so on with 30's being sport sedans, 40's-50's being 4 door sedans and 60's being wagons.
I've seen the 13 used on 9 65 sport coupes and into 69.

And I have seen the hole on 66's for the shoulder belt provisions. It started appearing early February if I'm remembering right.

"b"

the "B" in the top right hand corner is for Blue interior.
