Question First Post Engine ID

Hello Everyone,
I am a member oF TC but thought I would ask this question to all you Impala guys.

I own a 67 Chevelle and was told the engine 327 was out of a 69 Impala.
I would like some info to find out what I do have. Found numbers on the front pass. side of block.

I looked in Covans by the numbers but didn't come up with anything.
Should I be looking someware else on the block to ID this eng.
Thanks
John

Engine is out of a 69 Passenger car. It is a 235 horsepower 327 with a powerglide originally. The build date of the engine was Dec. 4 1968, veryify that with a date casting on the block somewhere. I found the FB suffix code on page 48 of Chevy by the numbers.

He has four books, so your year may not have been in the book you have. A faster way is to check at http://www.mortec.com

They have a complete listing of all casting numbers.

Send a message via AIM to TAR6569
Is there something else in front of the 144696. Like a 192 or a 19Y?
