61 conv. trim tag & vin assembly plant codes

Could anybody confirm the following for a 61 convertible with VIN# 11867BXXXXXX:

STYLE 61 -1867 BODY EP

If the trim tag shows the assembly plant as (EP) for Cleveland, OH and the VIN shows a (B) for Baltimore, MD; Is it a fact that Cleveland, OH was a Fisher Body plant only? Were the bodies then shipped to a GM plant, in this case, Baltimore, MD for final assembly?

Also, I've seen two 61 convertibles with this VIN & trim tag assembly plant combination.

I grew up in Euclid just down from that Fisher Body plant and I think your right they just made the bodies and panels there and then my guess is they shipped them by railway for final assembly in Baltimore, MD. The name always said Fisher Body. They eventually became Inland which made interiors for GM vehicle and Sea Ray Boats.

According to my new Colvin book the Euclid, OH Fisher Body plant built only bodies for delivery to Atlanta, Baltimore, Flint and Tarrytown. They didn't build the car, just the body.
