My 1961 Trim Tag

Style 61-1669 Body NW 145
TRIM 822 PAINT 955-B
ACC 37A

What can you tell me?

What is the B after the paint code?

What about the ACC ?

From what I have seen according to this it should be a V8 car, but it is not.

Jeremy,
All '61 Fisher Body cowl tags use a V-8 Style number, regardless of engine. Your VIN tag should read 1569, indicating an original 6cyl car.

Any idea on what the B stands for?

What about the acc code?

Your paint and trim seem odd to me. 822 looks like a blue interior and 955 might be for seafoam green? I don't think they would make that combination would they?
The accesory codes for these years Chevrolet are not published for the general population like they are for Camaros so you have to do some homework to try and figure them out.
Generally something after the paint code is for 2 tone or Vinyl top.
Verne, I know you are not going to post the accesory code for this but what is this paint & trim combination?

The interior is a mix of blue and green. There are about 3 or 4 different colors in the interior.

The 955 is supposed to be sea foam green with arbor green top. But I see no mention anywhere about the B.

This car is an untouched original car. Even has the original radiator cap!

To make the interior even more strange, the headliner is gold/brown in color!

61-1669 - 1961 Bel Air 1600 Series (V-8) - 4dr. Sedan

822 - The original color of your interior is: Green. Material type is: Cloth & Vinyl (Belair)

ACC - Accessories

955 - The original color of your car is: Two Tone, Seafoam Green & Arbor Blue

Beats the hell out of me on the rest. I keep reading that different plants used different codes so who knows really.

Paint Sample Sheet

Ape Out.

The "B" just means it was a two-tone. You'd better check the numbers again, because Chevrolet did not build green cars with blue interiors.

I thought rule #1 was that there were no hard & fast build rules.

Don't have to check numbers again, the car is 100% complete, and original.

Look at the pics I posted in my new member introduction post.
