Vin # ID on 65 ss

Can someone please help with the following vin#. I'm going to go look at a 65SS tomorrow to purchase. I just want to make sure that it is a true SS. The current owner says it's never left California... although I've been told that the Vin # should have a "C" in it. this one has an "L" Thanks!

I just found out that it is a true SS. How can I find out if the motor and tranny are the originals that came with the car?

It depends if it is a big block or small block car. Check for a partial VIN on the pass side block pad and also look at the assembly date/code stamp there.
Check the cowl/trim tag for the build date of the car and compare with the engine build date.

Otherwise post the trim tag and engine tag numbers and someone herre should be able to help you out.

Trannny depends if it is a automatic or manual since they were marked differently.
