Help.....I have a matching #'s 64 Impala w/ the original build sheet. My vin and build sheet match and the cowl tag. My question is that the 6th digit is a C..vin # is (41847C129789) and Yes it is on the build sheet. My build sheet is from the Atlanta (Lapeka, GA) plant and I confirmed it is orginal and all numbers match the car w/ engine, rear, trans options etc.....Help........I going to title the car but want to do it correctly.....your help is appreciated
This makes me feel much better.....how can I document that....all of the references that I can find says that the sixth vin should be an "A" for the Atlanta plant? You are very helpful.....thanks for any more help that you can give.
There were 2 Atlanta plants in '64. The plant with the "A" designation in the vin produced X-frame Chevys from '59-'64. The Doraville plant started in '64 and was coded "C" in the vin.
Chevrolet TSBs (Technical Service Bulletins) released an issue each year (usually the Sept. TSB) which listed the new up-coming model specs. That issue included all the plant designations and all the models produced at each plant. You should be able to find one through hobby literature dealers.
