1962 Questions

I have a few questions about a 62 we recently purchased. Could someone decode some of these numbers for me?

vin - 21867F158460

Trim Tag
12B 62-1867 LA3911
Int 815 948 Paint
Acc 487

Engine deck stamp T1202 5J

(don't know ACC code listed)

GM announced the closing of the Tonawanda engine facility LAST WEEK. Production will cease when all current open orders are filled.

I think Dave meant Dec 2nd 1961 (not 1981 !) but the suffix code of 5J or SJ is not correct. Shevelle needs to go back and re-check on the suffix code. It should be a one or two digit alpha characters like S, SA, SB, RB, etc.

Jacquie, The LA3911 indicates the body was built at Fisher Body at Lansing and it was the 3,911th Impala convertible body made there. It was then shipped to the Flint assembly plant for final assembly. The Acc 487 is just an internal tracking number and doesn't apply to any options.
