Engine ID

I have a pretty nice 64 Impala with a worn 327. I do not believe it is numbers matching but trying to figure out what it came out of is baffling me. On the front of the block it is worn and the only thing printed that is visible is IIII 5HV
and I removed a valve cover and the number on the head is GM 12 and under that is 21 to the right of that is 333882 and under that is E244. Is there anywhere else to look. I really appreciate any help.

All you needed was the HV stamped on the engine pad. This is know as the application code.

Your 327 started life back in 1965 as a 327 4 bbl, hyd lif, manual 4 speed factory rated at 350 out of a 'vette.

This is what you want:

Just need two cans of VHT Chevy Orange paint and an external balanced damper and flex plate or fly wheel. Loose the chrome plated valve covers and timing chain cover or "Scotch Brite" them to a very dull finish and paint them orange along with the heads and intake. Add a nice big black stock QuadraJet air cleaner with a 275 horse 327 decal an you are good to go.
