the head of the impala is messing but not broken off. the badge has two holes in it as if another badge was to go on top of it.

it looks to me like someone riveted that back on - surely not something that happened at the factory.

You can buy reproductions at a lot of restoration vendors (Please check out those that help pay the bills here first).

this car has been in a woods since 1987. I just pulled it 30 days ago. this is not something that was rivited on. you can see in the paint were the head of the impala was. i can not find another "badge" that looks like this one i have checked diferent vendors but nothing. if this badge is stock or repo show me a pic of one.

emblem has hidden posts on the back side to attach to fender. LGC and others carry them very easy to locate.

..you're missing the point. WHATever you have, it's not what originally went on a '62 Sport Sedan. They made two: one with an "SS" (which wouldn't be on a Sport Sedan, which is what you have in the picture) and one like the picture that Tom posted above. If you're looking for a headless, leg-less riveted-on Impala emblem, you're out of luck.

Brian,
Here is a link directly to one of the vendors that supplies this item.
Like Dave said most all the vendors have them.
Yours obvioulsly fell off at some time, got broken (head, tail, back leg, and mounting studs) so someone riveited it back on.

What does the one on the other side look like??

This is the one that came on the car originally.

the holes are not rivits they are cast into the badge. the head is not broken off you can see the cast marks were the head would be. the badge is not broken at all just seems to be missing some thing that would attach to it. the badge on the other side is the same.

It may help us to see the back side of the emblem. Remove them from the fender and post a pic.
