the 41447 vin confirms the car is a 64 Impala SS. Exactly how many digits are after 41447?

C08 is vinyl top (rare for 64) and TOP 26 is the top color. What color vinyl top does the car have? Black?

The T paint code I believe is Tan or Fawn. What color is the car?

I'm not sure how tell on the Canadian tags what the original vinyl top color was. It is code 26, but i don't know what that decodes to. It very well could have been white. Does someone know the available vinyl top colors for 64? I'm fairly certain it was just black and white.

That 2nd site he posted was just for decoding the vin. C08 is vinyl top for sure.

See, these vin decoders were not designed to decode Canadian vin numbers because the format is different. Your vin looks something like this 41447012345 where as US cars will look like 41447T123456. That is a significant different. When you put your vin into the decode, it is thinking that the 0 is an assembly plant letter, which there was no fullsize plant code of 0 in the US for 64. I believe your vin tag does NOT have a plant code letter. The 012345 would be the sequential vin number. The vin decode is looking for a 12 digit vin but yours is only 11.

Exactly what else do you need decoded?

Locomotion,
Some of the confusion is because of the symantics.
The VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) is just that, it is the number read directly off of your VIN tag attached to the drivers door post. The information contained in the VIN (US VIN) will identify the year, body style, engine cylinders ( 6 or 8), final assembly plant, and the vehicle sequence number. So when you "decode" the VIN that is all the information you will get but it will be very accurate since these "decodes" are well known.

The rest of the information that you see on your "cowl" or "trim" tag (same tag) is not your VIN but contains symbols to help the workers build your car. These were different for various plants and years and GM did NOT publish this information so we (the car hobbiests) have been trying to decipher them. The first few lines are fairly well known but the "accessories" information is still being reconstructed from evidence. The Camaro guys are much further along and the New Jersey Late Great Chevy Club has done a great job for 58-64. You can contact them and they will do it for a nominal fee also for your '64.

My point is that we are still investigating and decipering all this information and there is no published information that shows the accssory codes. In fact there is a sizable majority that would like them to remain unpublished even after they are all determined (to minimize fake/fraud cars).

Luckily your car is a Canadin car and they kept a record of every car! US Chevrolet was not as smart and tossed all the information. So you can send into the Canadian Historical with your VIN and get all the information for your car. This is great news and well worth the minimal fee. I wish I could do this for my cars. I sent you thier POC info in a PM but wanted to put this information out here for all to see.
Good Luck,
