"what numbers do I need to find out the drivetrains on this cars."

Not quite sure what you mean but if you want to determine what engines are in place right now your best bet is to look for the engine assembly date code/suffix number. It will be stamped on the front pad of the engine right below the passenger side head.
it will look something like like T1204S
first letter should be a T or F then 4 numerics (1's are I's in many cases) then a 1-3 letter suffix
Post those numbers and we can let you know what you have.

Tranny also has date codes stamped along with partial VIN, and the rear end has a code stamped in the middle of the passenger side tube towards the front edge. It will have leters and numbers that will tell you when it was made, where and by whom, as well as the gear ratio it had when it left the factory, and whether it originally had a Posi in it or not.

If it has a number on it then Alan Colvin's Chevrolet by the Numbers will tell you everything there is to know about the marked parts. He wrote five books. One to cover years 1955-1959, another documents 1960-64, the next covers 1965-69, then he has one that covers 1970-75. His last book is all about his true passion which is documenting Corvettes. He is the acknowledged master of decoding and worked with GM with access to a lot of their files before they were destroyed.

Do you have any of the original paperwork or documentation? Build sheet from either one or a POP for the 68? If not then you will not know for sure but there are some signs that you could look for.

Sometimes the cowl tag will have some clues about the transmission. What are the acessory codes on your tag?

Ill have to check the cowl tag again, I dont have any docs or paperwork but my 68 does have 327 fender emblems and it shows three speeds on the cluster, and has the hideaway lights, Im pretty sure the 62 came with a 283 and powerglide.

Without the factory documentation (it will have your VIN on the paperwork and list every option on the car); there is no way to "prove" anything. You could tear the car apart looking for a build sheet, or you can put in a modern transmssion and the motor of your choice; as without the original documentation there isn't anything to say what was in there.
