engine code breakdown

hi folks... impala newb is what i am... heck a total chevy newb as far as wanting tag info ..etc..

anyhow.. have a '66 impala ss i just picked up..with numbers matching 396.. for those who like that sort of thing...

have tags pretty well decoded thanks to all you wonderful peeps who answer everyones tag questions...

but the engine block code .. other then the T ..which i know from reading all the posts..is Tonowanda ... the rest i dont know..
its.. T0II4IVR .. i am assuming from what i have read from one of Big Daves posts about the sand casting and how hard it is to make 1's look like 1's that the .. TO II .. is actually TO11...

any help on that code would be great

thanks again for all your hard work

and yes.. i have ordered my decoding book that Big Dave recommends to everyone for decoding

Ivan

T0II4IVR
Tonowanda built
0114= Engine assembled Friday Jan 14th (1966)
IV = 396 CI 325 hp with a Turbohydramatic Transmission
R = Rochester Carburetor

The first 2 "I"'s are really "1"'s but the last one is really an "I" . Thats just to keep us on our toes!

Your car is most likely a 1D or 2A car I'm guessing.

Would like to see some pictures when you get a chance.

i bow to your superior kung-fu

as ..yes.. it is a 1D

i will be happy to post some pics this weekend
it is a basically unmolested original with the start of some rust in typical areas... lower quarters, wheel openings, and lower front fenders
and a long ago coat of red paint (poorly done i may add) over the original blue
but will over the long upstate ny winter be going under the knife for some surgery after i have some summer fun of driving it
