Engine #'s don't add up!!!!

I have a 66 s/s, the problem is my engine # don't make sense. The block # IS 3782870 BUT THE ENGINE # IS F0922U, which indicates a big block? Help if you can. Joel

Comes back as a 327 1962-67. the numbers on the front of the block under RF head have a parcial serial number that should mach your car serial number.

Joel:

The 3782870 block wasl also used in 68-76 for the 427T (truck??) block. If that is the case, you have a heck of a starting point for a great engine!!!!!!

Sorry then for my error. I was never aware that they put that 350 hp in an Impala. I am actually a '65 guy.

I'm not sure they put a 350hp in an Impala either, but they did put a 327/350 in a Corvette. The range was a general statement for the 327V8 and not for the application.

I just happened to find this: It confirms what I thought about the '66 Impalas which is what I thought that we were talking about on an Impala forum. The 220hp 283 actually has a 4 barrell carb.

Cop cars were rated at 300 horse for 327's, 390 horse for the 427's. Both motors were hydraulic tappet, 2.5" dual exhaust, four bbarrel equipped.
