427 Caprice

Dave, thanks for the prompt reply. The car has a 427 in it. How can I tell if the car was born with a 427 if the block was decked? Do you know anything about window stickers and how to tell if the window sticker is authentic? Thanks again in advance, Ron.

2nd group is probably 2KZN

a/c, TH400 and stereo. You didn't post the paint code with the tag info. Posting a pic of the window sticker would be great.

66 Caprice decoding

The paint code is M-6 and the fourth line does say 2KZN after closer inspection. Any comments?

Thanks, Ron

M-6 is aztex bronze with a black vinyl top. Option codes are as I mentioned in my first post. Car must have console multiplex?

66 Caprice legitimate?

I am trying to find out if the car is a legitimate 427 car. Thanks for the info.

Real 427

The only window sticker available is one that was reproduced, the original is gone. Any help would be appreciated as to how a 427 differs from a 396 under the hood or otherwise. Thanks, Ron

There is no difference other than a bigger bore inside the block. Everything is identical otherwise. There was a difference between a small block car and a big block car in how it was built, but once you had a big block, as far as the car was concerned, they were all the same.

I see. Yeah it's hard to tell on the 66's. 2Z is TH400 but you could get that with both the 396 and 427. Actually, if the TH400 is original, the code on the metal tag attached to it would be CB not CA.
