Muncie 4-Speed Verification

Checking to see if I have verified the casting numbers correctly and find the car this belongs with.

Case: #3851325
Casting Stamp: #P0905
Cover: #3884685
Tailshaft housing: #3857584GM
Partial stamp: #T134926 (The stamp is on the tailshaft, not the case.)

It could be a Frankenstein, but am I correct that this is a Tarrytown stamp and a September '65 case? I know it's a long shot trying to find the original owner, but I want to try.

Thanks in advance

Only the partial VIN will provide any chance of finding the original owner. Casting numbers where fairly generic differing only when the engineers modified the tranny to fix something or to make it cheaper (Every Engineering Change Order created a new part number which may or may not generate a new casting number).

Hi Rick, that's awesome, a Tarrytown muncie with the vin on the tailshaft. Can you post pics of the assembly date and vin stamp? Is the date code stamped on the side cover edge or on the opposite side to the left of the casting number? Is there a part number tag bolted to the side cover? I'm assuming it's an M20 wide ratio transmission.

I checked my database and did not have this car entered. Body would have been built first week of December 1963 or 64 depending on date code location. Same week as our 65 Biscayne Tarrytown!

Do you know any history on the transmission?
Thanks for posting.

I hope these aren't too large. The casting number pics are at the link.
