67 Imp SS Decode help

Hello,
I'm a newbie and looking to decode a '67 Trim Tag:

12B
67-16887 STL 0002705 BODY
TR 895-B G-2 PNT
W2LR
5Y142662

I know it's a St. Louis car, the date is December week 2 and its Granada Gold with a Black Vinyl top. The rest is ?

Thanks,

Welcome to the Team Randy!

According to my pocket Chevy Cowl Tags it decodes as:

16867 ==> Impala SS Two Door Convertible
There were five option groups, and the 1 was frequently omitted, so the W is all by itself.
W ===> Tinted Front Windshield Only
2 ===> Second Option Group
L ===> Manual Four Speed
R ===> Rear Seat Speaker
5 ===> Fifth Option Group
Y ===> Deluxe Seat Belts

67 Imp SS

Big Dave,
Thanks much, I was really concerned about the 4 spd as I'm looking at a car and the hole for the 4 spd had spome wierd work done around that spot, while the rest of the car was done really nice.

Thanks again.

The factory took a cutting torch to a regular body without a hole in the floor to cut the hole for the four speed. That slag around the edges is considered normal. There just wasn't enough number of manual floor shift cars ordered to justify any special tooling to punch out a hole in a floor pan just for them. The boot covered the hole and there was always the option of a console if they really hacked up the car.

Dave,
The 4spd cars had a special floor hump welded in at the factory but it does sound like the hole for it was hacked up. Maybe to install a different shifter handle.

Also, his body style is a 16887 (Impala SS coupe). 16867 is convertible but he says his car has a black vinyl top.

Randy, do you know what engine the car has/had originally? What's the vin? Can you post a pic of the floor hump? Should be a handstamped inspector's number on the cowl tag too.

Warren
