Rear axle decode for 1967 Impala

I recently repurchased a 1967 Impala SS427 that I owned 20yrs ago. Here is what I now about the car. It has a 1969 427 motor, The trans is original and I believe the rear to be original but I am having trouble decoding it. It has the letters DK with an E under that. DK I believe is a 3:55 posi. It also has what appears to be L128K stamped on the axle tube. The production date of the car is 12A. By the way, this car does not have the D code indicating SS427, any idea where a build sheet may be, I looked behind the front seats, nothing there.

Thanks for the welcome, the rear is definitely a posi. and from what I have found DK codes for all year full size cars was a 3:55 posi. I am trying to figure out the date code. It looks like L128K, if it was 1128K, I would assume it was produced Nov 28 1966 which would fit with a 12A 1967 car, not sure what the K means or the E under the DK code.

Thanks for the link, I posted the one I looked at, it says the opposite, that is the problem with the internet. The rear is a posi. It says camaro in the link but it actually lists rears for impala's

Hi Lou,

I maintain a 67-69 Impala SS427 registry. Where is the car built? I may have it in the list. Can you PM me the vin and cowl tag info?

Check inside the bucket seat backs, up under the dash, above the hood insulation if it is original.

Warren
