Just registered and said hello in the welcome forum.
I have a question about my Canadian Impala Wagon. I have got the fantastic info from George at GM Canada but the mystery of my paint colour remains.
Firstly, here's the build sheet which is all pretty much self explanatory - thankfully my car is remarkably original with correct motor and most of the options still in tact:
George was not able to shed any light on the SP4813 paint code however a local Australian forum has suggested that my wagon is Almond Fawn/Ermine White - which would have been a special order combination. Here it is before being stripped (ignore the front guard - it was a respray with an "almost" match.
Secondly, I am confused by the "3 RHD export cars" as stated on the build sheet. I have seen in excess of 20 RHD wagons over the years in Australia and a recent article in a local magazine referred to a local dealer selling 300 wagons in 1964. Where would the other 297 have come from..? Detroit?
Any help on both of these queries is much appreciated.
It was not an uncommon a GM color and as such could be special ordered on any vehicle if you knew the paint code (assumes you were ordering a car from the factory as opposed to picking one out of the dealers stock on his sales lot).
