I haven't; but several members on this board have upgraded their steering boxes to ones out of mid eighties and up GM vehicles (same Saginaw 600-800 series steering gear boxes were used in Ford cars and Jeeps as well) to improve road feel and the turning response.

Here is an article explaining the upgrade benefits and listing some of the possible donor vehicles. Many cars had these desired boxes besides the high priced one listed.

There are also aftermarket steering gear boxes made with all new parts:

The splines were the same up into the 80's I use to use Vega GT wheels on some of my cars. But if I change a wheel now days its going to be to a classic vintage Superior wheel.

I'm Sorry Joshua I didn't read your post correctly. I misinterpreted it to ask about a more modern power steering gear box to get rid of the slave piston and all of the linkage that is a frequent problem as well as looking unsightly to some. It is asked so frequently that I jumped to the wrong conclusion.

Once again my apology: and to answer your question yes; many steering wheels will bolt on. I used to use Grant steering wheels in my race cars to increase the turning input with a smaller wheel. I also swapped the plastic stock wheel for a three spoke aluminum and walnut wheel for looks in one of my Camaros.

It's no problem Dave I am looking into a CPP 500 steering box as well , but I've also read of people using jeep grand cherokee boxes in A Bodies but I don't know of nor have heard of any other boxes that anyone have used with the 59-64 impalas
