Yes! The column doesn't determine much in terms of gear selection (you can buy a new gear indicator to match the extra gears). The part you worry about is under the car in terms of the rods and linkage that goes from the frame to the transmission. It is the shifter comb (a rack with a detent or notch for each gear) that has to be changed to allow you to find all of your gears. Otherwise if you leave it as it you can only find PRN and OD or D. You will never be able to select first, or second gear manually (if left in drive the tranny will find all of the gears for you, but it kind of negates the need for a shift light on your monster tach).
